Can Tho

Can Tho is also nicknamed “tây đô” or the “capital of the west”. It is economically developed, yet still retains some features of an area filled with nature’s abundance on water and on land.

The most notable activity in Can Tho is the Cai Rang floating market. It was formed in the 20th century as the dominant form of market for people at the time, and still retains the popularity till now when other forms of goods exchange spring up. The market is located on a river fork and it started at 5AM. When you visit the market, you can enjoy breakfast on the boat, as well as trying other forms of food and goods when various types of boat, small and big, meander along each other. Each boat has a stick with a type of fruit or good on top to signify what they are selling - all together forming a really vibrant, colorful, unique landscape.
